Personal Statement

I am a highly motivated recent University of Nottingham graduate with a 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering. I am keen to start a career in engineering ,to learn new skills and gain practical experience in the industry.

Throughout my degree I have completed modules giving me an understanding of technical aspects of engineering such as manufacturing techniques, calculations and data analysis . My background in engineering has included completing both individual and group projects which required me to be organised, reliable and have good communication skills.

Education

University of Nottingham | September 2019 - June 2022

BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (2:1) |
Relevant Modules: Engineering Sustainability-Energy, Materials and Manufacture, Computer Modelling Techniques , Engineering Management , Programming Professional and Laboratory Skills, Individual and group projects, Advanced mathematics and statistics for mechanical engineers.

Engineering Sustainability-Energy, Materials and Manufacture | Topics included:
● Drivers for sustainability including patterns of energy use, material consumption and waste generation.
● Principles for efficient use of energy resources including energy use in buildings, heat and power generation and heat recovery systems.
● Life cycle assessment of engineering activities focused on air pollutants and greenhouse gas, their impact and mitigation measures.
● Economic analysis of investments in energy savings, material substitution, product design and value recovery.
● Culminated in a final assessment and coursework where I had to write a technical report discussing the current stocks and flows of cobalt in electric vehicle batteries and the potential future demand. In this report calculations were also made as to whether these demands are likely to be met and how helpful recycling of the batteries may be in ensuring future supply of cobalt. Finally potential barriers to this were considered for the primary and recycling supply chains and how these may be overcome.

Finchley Catholic High School | September 2014 - June 2019

A Levels: Physics (B), Chemistry (B) , Maths (B)

GCSEs: 11 GCSE A*- C (9 A/A*) Including 8 in Maths and 8/7 in English Lit/Lan
